Xvand Technology 2 of 5 checks
Managed IT, cybersecurity and backup for Houston credit unions, clinics, law and accounting firms.
Xvand Technology Overview
Xvand Technology is a Houston managed IT provider. Its site says co-founders Victor Grinshtein and Andrey Sherman formed it in 1999, and lists Grinshtein as president and CEO and Sherman as vice president and COO. It says both had worked at IT firms serving Fortune 500 companies.
It describes its clients as Houston's small-to-midsize businesses and has a page for law firms.
What Xvand Technology sells
The site lists managed IT, professional IT services, cloud IT support, cybersecurity, IT automation and a help desk. The main bundle is called the Signature package, and the services page describes a Compliance package for finance and healthcare businesses.
Less common for an MSP of this size, Xvand runs its own private cloud. The site describes it as a multi-tenant environment with full redundancy, cloud desktops, and a disaster recovery site in case its primary data center has an outage. It also sells cloud backup, including immutable backup.
The help desk is described as available 24/7. One line on the help desk page says 90% of issues are solved in under 15 minutes. Another says 77% are resolved on the first call within seventeen minutes.
The work it points to
Xvand says it has replaced client logos with icons to protect clients, so most testimonials are signed with a first name, a title and an industry. One names Moody Rambin, quoted saying it switched to Xvand two weeks before Hurricane Ike.
The home page says Xvand is a Summer 2026 Clutch Global Award winner. We have not spoken to any of those clients.
How it says it charges
It publishes no prices. Its pricing calculator asks for counts of users, workstations, office locations and SQL databases, then emails an estimate. The page says "You should only pay for what you need." The private cloud page describes one inclusive price covering maintenance, patches, upgrades and support.
The guarantee has stated terms. If Xvand cannot resolve all issues within 3 months of the complete transition, it says it will refund 3 months of service costs, excluding Microsoft licensing and other subscriptions, and help the client move to another MSP at no extra cost. It requires the client's full engagement.
What its site does not tell you
On the 12 pages we read, the site gives no prices and no contract length. It names no staff certifications and does not say how many people work there, beyond calling its team large. A testimonial mentions an uptime guarantee whose terms the pages do not give.
None of that is unusual for a provider's website, and all of it is worth asking about before you sign.

Xvand Technology Services
What those services mean, and what to ask
Ongoing responsibility for your systems for a recurring fee: monitoring, patching, support and planning. Ask exactly which devices, users and sites the fee covers, and what is billed on top.
What an MSP isProtection, detection and response: endpoint software, email filtering, firewalls and someone watching the alerts. Many providers resell a specialist for monitoring, so ask who actually does the work and who calls you at night.
Cybersecurity basicsCopies of your data kept where the original's problems cannot reach, and a plan for bringing systems back. Ask how often a restore is tested and how long a full recovery takes.
Backup and disaster recoveryLicensing, administration, security settings and migration for cloud platforms. The platform keeps the service running; backing up your data in it and securing the accounts is still somebody's job, so ask whose.
Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365A named person who plans budgets, replacements and projects with you. Ask how often you meet and what the written roadmap contains.

Rules that come with those sectors
Naming a sector is not evidence that a provider meets its rules. These are the ones that commonly apply in the United States, and what to ask about each.
- Financial services
- Firms covered by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act must keep a written information security program. Ask what the provider contributes to it and what evidence it can give an examiner.
- Healthcare
- A provider with access to patient data is a business associate under HIPAA. Ask for a signed business associate agreement before it touches your systems.
- Legal
- Lawyers have a professional duty to make reasonable efforts to protect client information, under ABA Model Rule 1.6 and its state versions. Ask how client files and email are secured.
- Accounting
- Tax and accounting firms fall under the FTC Safeguards Rule, and the IRS expects a written information security plan. Ask how the provider supports yours.
- Manufacturing
- Manufacturers in the defense supply chain are assessed under CMMC. If that is you, ask whether the provider has taken a client through it.
