Cookie Policy

We use the few cookies the site needs to function, and we store your cookie choice in your own browser. There are no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking of any kind.

Section 1What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser so it can remember something between requests. Some are strictly necessary for the site to function. Others are optional, and those require your consent.

Section 2Cookies and storage we set

NameTypePurposeLifetime
packetbasics_sessionStrictly necessaryKeeps a form submission tied to your browser so a submitted form is not lost or replayedSession
XSRF-TOKENStrictly necessaryProtects forms against cross-site request forgerySession
cookie_consentStrictly necessaryRemembers whether you accepted optional cookies so we stop asking12 months

Strictly necessary cookies do not need consent because the site cannot work without them. We set no others unless you accept.

Section 3Analytics

If we run analytics, it loads only after you accept optional cookies, it is configured with advertising features and data sharing turned off, and it is disabled entirely while your stored choice is "necessary only". No analytics runs on this site while it is in preview.

Section 4Affiliate cookies

When you click a link to a software vendor, that vendor may set a cookie on their own domain to record that you arrived from us.

That cookie belongs to them and is governed by their policy, not ours. We do not read it, and we receive no personal information from it. See the affiliate disclosure for how those links work.

Section 5What we never do

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies.
  • No social media tracking pixels. Our share links are plain links that set nothing.
  • No fingerprinting, session recording or heatmap scripts.
  • No selling or syndicating browsing data.

The pages you read here load no third-party JavaScript beyond a web font stylesheet.

Section 6How to control cookies

Use the consent bar to accept all or keep only the essential ones. To change your mind later, clear this site's data in your browser and the bar will appear again. Every browser also lets you block or delete cookies for a single site or for all sites, in its privacy settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break form submissions.

Section 7Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honor Global Privacy Control signals: if your browser sends one, we treat it as a refusal of optional cookies and never ask again in that browser. Since we run no advertising trackers, there is nothing else for a Do Not Track header to switch off here.
