Find an MSP, and See What We Checked

Nothing is listed until its state registration is confirmed, so every company here provably exists. The other four checks are published on the profile exactly as they stand, with the date. A city page appears once at least 5 listed companies serve it.

The five checks, and what gets published

One of these five decides whether a company is listed at all. A state registration confirmed against the public register, with the filing number recorded, is what proves the company exists under the name it trades as, and nothing appears here without it.

The other four are published rather than waited for. Every profile shows all five, what was found, and the day it was looked at, so a listing that says the phone has not been called yet says exactly that.

A directory that hides its unfinished work looks complete and tells you nothing; one that shows it can be argued with, which is the point. A company that fails a check is removed rather than moved down the page, because a directory keeping a failed listing at a lower position is telling you it does not really mean the check.

CheckWhat has to be true
State registrationAn active business registration with the state, matching the legal name and the address on the listing. A trade name with no registration behind it is where most directory listings quietly begin.
Website and phoneA live website and a telephone number that a person answers. We call it. A number that rings out, or reaches a shared answering service with no knowledge of the company, fails this check.
Physical addressAn office, not a mailbox and not a coworking membership used as an address. A provider that works from a virtual address may be perfectly good, and it will not be listed as having an office in your city.
CertificationsEvery certification claimed on the listing, confirmed with the body that issues it. A partner tier is checked in the vendor directory, not on the website of the provider.
Client referencesReviews from clients we reached and spoke to. Reviews we could not confirm are not published, and the star average on a profile is computed from the reviews on the page rather than typed in.

Three of the five need a person on a telephone, which is why the records here show work in progress rather than a wall of ticks, and why this directory grows one city at a time rather than covering the country on the day it launched.

Scraping business listings would produce a national directory in an afternoon, every entry marked verified, and the result would be the thing this one exists to be an alternative to.

Why a city page can disappear

A city page for a service exists only while at least 5 listed companies serve that city. Below the threshold the page stops existing entirely: it is not published as a shorter list, and it does not sit there with two listings and a lot of filler about the local business climate.

That rule cuts both ways, and it is worth being honest about which way it usually cuts. It means a city you searched for may simply not be here.

It also means that when a city page does exist, the list on it is long enough that the ordering carries information, and no provider on it is there because it was the only one that answered.

What to do when your city is missing

Ask for quotes anyway. The request goes to listed companies that cover your area, including ones headquartered elsewhere, and you will hear either from them or from us saying we could not match you. A city with no page is a city we have not finished checking, not a city with no providers in it.

How the quotes work

The quote request is one short form: your city, your headcount, and the service you need. It goes to at most three listed companies that cover that area, and they contact you directly. Nothing is auto-generated, nothing is sold on, and no provider pays a higher fee to be one of the three.

  • Two business days is the usual window for a first reply, and the request is a request rather than a commitment on either side.
  • Your details go to matched providers only. They are not sold to a lead broker, and they are not passed to anyone outside the shortlist.
  • There is no obligation and no fee to you. Each matched provider pays the same flat referral fee for receiving the request, and nothing on the outcome, so no provider can buy its way onto a shortlist.
  • You can ask one provider rather than three. Every provider profile carries its own quote button, and a request sent from there goes to that provider alone.

Do You Run a Managed IT Company?

Listing is free and begins with one check: we confirm your registration against the state register. The other four are run after that and published on your profile as they stand. No pay to rank, ever, and the whole record is re-run every six months.

Common questions

What does a listing here mean?

That the company has a state business registration we confirmed against the public register, with the filing number recorded. Nothing is listed without that, so every company here provably exists under the name it trades as.

The other four checks, an answered phone, a physical office rather than a virtual address, certifications confirmed with the issuing body, and reviews from clients we reached, are published on the profile exactly as they stand, each with the date it was looked at.

Why show checks that are not finished?

Because the alternative is worse. A directory that publishes only completed work looks finished and tells you nothing about what was actually done, and three of these five checks need a person on a telephone.

Showing the record means a listing that says the phone has not been called yet says so, and you can weigh it yourself rather than taking a badge on trust.

What does the Verified badge mean?

That all five checks have passed and been recorded with a date. A company with fewer shows the count instead, linking to the record, and the record names what is outstanding.

Can a provider pay to be listed or ranked higher?

No. Listings are free and cannot be bought, and no payment changes a check result or the order of the unsponsored list. A provider may sponsor a clearly labeled placement, which sits outside the ordering.

Why is my city not here?

Because fewer than 5 companies there have a confirmed registration on file yet. A city page is published only above that threshold, so a missing city means unfinished checking rather than an absence of providers.

How long do the quotes take?

Usually two business days for a first reply. The request goes to at most three listed companies covering your area, and it commits you to nothing.

What does it cost me?

Nothing. There is no fee to request quotes and no obligation to accept one. Providers pay a flat fee for receiving a request, the same for all of them, and your details go to the matched providers only rather than to a lead broker.

How often are the checks re-run?

Every six months, and a provider that fails a re-check is removed from the directory rather than moved down it. Every check on a profile carries the date it was last looked at, including the ones still outstanding.

Do you provide IT services yourselves?

No. We publish a reference library, software rankings and this directory. There is no service of ours that a listing or a ranking could be steering you toward.

How do I get my company listed?

Apply through the contact page. We confirm your registration first, which is what puts you on the page, and the rest of the record fills in from there. The five checks are the same for everyone, and the parts that need a phone call are the parts that take the time.

Where do the reviews on a profile come from?

From clients we contacted directly. A star average is computed from the reviews shown on the page, so the number and the reviews behind it cannot drift apart.

Can I ask for a specific provider?

Yes. Use the quote button on that provider profile, and the request goes to them alone rather than to a shortlist.
