CCS Horizon 2 of 5 checks
Managed IT, backup, security and compliance for Texas medical, financial and construction firms.
CCS Horizon Overview
CCS Horizon is an IT services company with offices in Plano and Houston. Its site says it has been helping businesses manage their technology since 1996. It names no owner or executives. It says it has worked across many industries and singles out construction, medical, financial services and manufacturing.
What CCS Horizon sells
The site describes two managed plans. The Basic Managed Services Program covers monitoring and support for a client's network. The Premium Managed Services Program is described as preferred for industries that operate outside standard business hours. Listed inclusions are 24/7 monitoring, endpoint security, patching, backup management, unlimited helpdesk and remote support, and asset management.
Its contact form also lists break-fix support. Security services run from basic endpoint licensing with Webroot or SentinelOne up to 24/7/365 SOC monitoring. Cloud support covers Microsoft 365 and Azure, AWS and Google Workspace, and the company describes itself as a Microsoft Partner and Cloud Solutions Provider.
Compliance is a large part of the site: HIPAA, PCI, SOC 2, ISO 27001, CMMC and NIST 800-171. For CMMC it says it has certified staff and operates as a registered provider organization. It also offers website hosting support, and cabling through a partner company.
The work it points to
The home page says "We’ve Helped Thousands of Clients" and carries three testimonials credited by name and job title, not by organization. One says the client has been with the company for over 20 years. There are no case studies. We have not spoken to any of those clients.
How it says it charges
It publishes no prices. The site says managed IT is priced per user or per device each month, depending on headcount, complexity and the level of security included. Cloud management is usually part of the per-user fee. It says managed clients get substantial discounts on project hours outside the agreement, and discounts on Office 365.
What its site does not tell you
On the 9 pages we read, the site advertises guaranteed response times and says response targets are written into each agreement, but it does not state what they are. It refers to certified systems engineers without naming their certifications, and does not say how many people work there.
It gives no contract length. It says 24/7/365 on-call help desk support depends on the service contract. Its experience claims vary between pages, from "over two decades" to 30+ years. None of that is unusual for a provider's website, and all of it is worth asking about before you sign.

CCS Horizon Services
What those services mean, and what to ask
Ongoing responsibility for your systems for a recurring fee: monitoring, patching, support and planning. Ask exactly which devices, users and sites the fee covers, and what is billed on top.
What an MSP isThe number your staff call. Ask for the hours, the response time by priority, whether the people answering are the provider's own staff, and what an on-site visit costs.
Questions to ask an MSPCopies of your data kept where the original's problems cannot reach, and a plan for bringing systems back. Ask how often a restore is tested and how long a full recovery takes.
Backup and disaster recoveryProtection, detection and response: endpoint software, email filtering, firewalls and someone watching the alerts. Many providers resell a specialist for monitoring, so ask who actually does the work and who calls you at night.
Cybersecurity basicsHelp meeting a security standard or a regulator's rules. Ask which frameworks the provider has taken clients through, and what evidence it produces for an auditor.
Security frameworksLicensing, administration, security settings and migration for cloud platforms. The platform keeps the service running; backing up your data in it and securing the accounts is still somebody's job, so ask whose.

Rules that come with those sectors
Naming a sector is not evidence that a provider meets its rules. These are the ones that commonly apply in the United States, and what to ask about each.
- Medical
- A provider with access to patient data is a business associate under HIPAA. Ask for a signed business associate agreement before it touches your systems.
- Manufacturing
- Manufacturers in the defense supply chain are assessed under CMMC. If that is you, ask whether the provider has taken a client through it.
- Financial services
- Firms covered by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act must keep a written information security program. Ask what the provider contributes to it and what evidence it can give an examiner.
- Schools
- Student records are protected by FERPA. Ask how access to them is limited and logged.
