IT GOAT 1 of 5 checks
Managed IT built on help desk, NOC and SOC services, with compliance work for regulated firms.
IT GOAT Overview
IT GOAT is a managed IT and cybersecurity provider. Its about page names Michael Murphy as CEO. The pages we read give no founding year. Its locations page starts with Dallas and Fort Worth, lists more Texas cities such as Austin, Houston and San Antonio, then cities in other states, among them Shreveport, Chicago and Miami.
The industries page names accounting, banking, construction, education, government, healthcare, legal, nonprofits, oil and gas, real estate and technology companies among those it serves.
What IT GOAT sells
The home page describes real-time IT support, server and network services run from its own network operations center, a security operations center, and IT consulting. A further page lists fully managed and co-managed arrangements. The site says support is staffed 24x7x365 and is "100% U.S.-based support", never outsourced.
Compliance is a large part of the site. IT GOAT says it guides clients through SOC 2, NIST 800-171 and CMMC 2.0, and its industries page adds HIPAA and PCI DSS. A separate page covers Microsoft licensing, migration and security through the Cloud Solution Provider program.
It also does physical network work. The network infrastructure page lists firewalls, switching, business WiFi, dual ISP connectivity and office cabling, as a project followed by ongoing management.
The work it points to
The home page carries two testimonials. One is from the Director of Quality and Compliance at CertifyOS, about a SOC 2 Type 1 submission. The other is from a Director of Operations at an independent oil and gas company. We have not spoken to any of those clients.
Its awards page lists CRN's MSP 500 Pioneer 250 for 2025 and 2026, CRN Next-Gen Solution Provider Leader for 2024, a Clutch Global Award, Cloudtango's MSP Select and an Inc regional fastest-growing list.
How it says it charges
IT GOAT publishes no prices for managed services. It promises no hidden fees and a plan fitted to each client's size and budget. Its offers page does give one figure: a cyber penetration test for $1,500, against what it calls typical assessments of $5,000 to $30,000. The same page offers 10% off a first IT project.
What its site does not tell you
On the 12 pages we read, the site states no contract terms and does not say how many people work there. It does state service figures: an 80-second average response time, a 6-minute average resolution and 96.5%+ customer satisfaction. It reports these as averages, not guarantees.
It calls its staff certified professionals without naming the certifications, and the pages we read do not say whether IT GOAT itself holds a SOC 2 report. None of that is unusual for a provider's website, and all of it is worth asking about.

IT GOAT Services
What those services mean, and what to ask
The number your staff call. Ask for the hours, the response time by priority, whether the people answering are the provider's own staff, and what an on-site visit costs.
Questions to ask an MSPEvery device watched and updated through a remote management tool, so problems are found before users report them. Ask for the patching schedule and a sample of the monthly report.
What RMM isProtection, detection and response: endpoint software, email filtering, firewalls and someone watching the alerts. Many providers resell a specialist for monitoring, so ask who actually does the work and who calls you at night.
Cybersecurity basicsA named person who plans budgets, replacements and projects with you. Ask how often you meet and what the written roadmap contains.
What a vCIO isHelp meeting a security standard or a regulator's rules. Ask which frameworks the provider has taken clients through, and what evidence it produces for an auditor.
Security frameworksCopies of your data kept where the original's problems cannot reach, and a plan for bringing systems back. Ask how often a restore is tested and how long a full recovery takes.

Rules that come with those sectors
Naming a sector is not evidence that a provider meets its rules. These are the ones that commonly apply in the United States, and what to ask about each.
- Defense and government contractors
- Contractors handling controlled information for the Department of Defense are assessed under CMMC, built on NIST SP 800-171. Ask whether the provider has taken a client through an assessment.
- Financial services
- Firms covered by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act must keep a written information security program. Ask what the provider contributes to it and what evidence it can give an examiner.
- Manufacturing
- Manufacturers in the defense supply chain are assessed under CMMC. If that is you, ask whether the provider has taken a client through it.

- Which certifications and partner tiers does the company hold? We have confirmed none with an issuer yet, so check each one in the issuer's own directory.
- Can you speak to two clients of your size who have been with the company for more than a year? We have not reached any of its clients.
- It names Defense and government contractors, Financial services, Manufacturing and Oil and gas. If your sector is not among them, ask for a client in it.
- Who holds the administrator credentials and the documentation, and how are they handed over if you leave?

The overview. Written by us from 12 pages of the company's own website, each read in full on Sep 17, 2026. It reports what the site says and what it leaves out. It is not a review, and nothing in it has been verified beyond the five checks.
Note on the record. The register and BBB agree on a Dallas LLC. The site names no office, and BBB gives a 2021 start against a 2018 charter.

IT GOAT FAQ
What does IT GOAT do?
IT GOAT sells managed IT made from three service desks it also offers on their own: a help desk, a network operations center and a security operations center.
Its compliance work covers FedRAMP, SOC 2 and NIST 800-171, and the industries it names are defense and government contractors, financial firms, manufacturing, and oil and gas. That is how the company describes itself; we transcribed it from its website and did not verify it.
What services does IT GOAT offer?
The services it puts first are Help desk, NOC as a service, SOC as a service, vCIO, Compliance and Backup and recovery. A provider usually offers more than it lists, so ask about anything you need that is not named.

Which industries does IT GOAT work with?
It names Defense and government contractors, Financial services, Manufacturing and Oil and gas. That list comes from its own website.

Is IT GOAT a registered company?

How much does IT GOAT charge?
It publishes prices on its own website: Cyber penetration test, $1,500. The pricing table on this page gives the page they were read from and the date. Confirm them with the company, because published prices change.
How do I get a quote from IT GOAT?
Use the quote button on this page. A request sent from here goes to this company alone. To compare it with others, the general form sends one request to up to three listed companies that cover your area. Both are free and commit you to nothing.
How do I contact IT GOAT directly?
By phone on (833) 348-4628. Its website is itgoat.com. From the check record: Site loads. The only number it publishes is toll free, (833) 348-4628, which does not establish a local presence. Nobody has called it.
Did IT GOAT pay to be listed here?
No. A listing is free and starts with the registration check. A company pays a flat referral fee only when a quote request is sent to it, the same fee for every company, so it cannot buy a position.
