DKBinnovative Overview

Founded2004

DKBinnovative is a managed IT and cybersecurity firm with headquarters in Frisco. Its site says Keith Barthold founded it in 2004, and lists three offices, in Frisco, Plano and Irving. It says it serves Dallas-Fort Worth small and midsize businesses, typically of 20 to 250 employees.

The industries page names investment and professional services firms, healthcare, construction and engineering, financial services, energy and industrial resources, and manufacturers. It calls these five core verticals while listing six.

What DKBinnovative sells

The site lists six services: cybersecurity, managed IT, cloud computing, co-managed IT, IT consulting and DevOps. The co-managed service is described as Tier 1 to 3 support, security tools, vendor coordination and a vCIO working alongside a client's own IT staff.

On security, it says it runs an in-house SOC around the clock with "zero outsourcing", includes managed EDR in every engagement, and runs quarterly awareness training. It also lists vCISO engagements, compliance work against HIPAA, CMMC and NIST, and SOC 2 readiness services.

Cloud work centers on Microsoft Azure and Office 365, with backups through Veeam and Datto. Two lines are unusual for an MSP: DevOps services, and a managed AI environment built on Hatz AI. The company describes itself as a certified Microsoft Silver Partner.

The work it points to

The case study page lists four projects without naming the clients. It says DKBinnovative resolved 1,256 tickets over five years for a three-office North Texas CPA firm, and scaled an oil and gas company from 5 users to more than 130.

The other two are security incidents, one at a healthcare organization after an acquisition and one at a wealth management firm, which it says was contained inside 24 hours. It also claims a 98.14% satisfaction rating, measured through CrewHu. We have not spoken to any of those clients.

How it says it charges

It publishes no prices. The site does say that its compliance documentation library is a standard deliverable on every engagement, "not a separate billable service", and that SOC 2 readiness is sold as a fixed-fee engagement.

What its site does not tell you

On the 11 pages we read, the site is specific about response. It states a 3-minute average first response for the remote helpdesk, a 15-minute response target for critical-priority tickets, and same-day on-site response as the contracted SLA, with an engineer en route within two hours for severity-one events.

What it leaves out: prices, contract length, and how many people work there. Apart from the Microsoft partner status, it names no certifications held by the company or its staff. These are things to ask about, along with how the response figures are written into the contract.

What those services mean, and what to ask

Managed ITDKBinnovative lists: Managed IT

Ongoing responsibility for your systems for a recurring fee: monitoring, patching, support and planning. Ask exactly which devices, users and sites the fee covers, and what is billed on top.

What an MSP is
Co-managed ITDKBinnovative lists: Co-managed IT

The provider works alongside your own IT staff, taking the monitoring, tooling, out-of-hours cover or projects they have no time for. It depends on a written line between what each team owns.

IT outsourcing models
CybersecurityDKBinnovative lists: Cybersecurity

Protection, detection and response: endpoint software, email filtering, firewalls and someone watching the alerts. Many providers resell a specialist for monitoring, so ask who actually does the work and who calls you at night.

Cybersecurity basics
Cloud and Microsoft 365DKBinnovative lists: Cloud computing

Licensing, administration, security settings and migration for cloud platforms. The platform keeps the service running; backing up your data in it and securing the accounts is still somebody's job, so ask whose.

A named person who plans budgets, replacements and projects with you. Ask how often you meet and what the written roadmap contains.

Rules that come with those sectors

Naming a sector is not evidence that a provider meets its rules. These are the ones that commonly apply in the United States, and what to ask about each.

Investment and professional firms
Firms covered by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act must keep a written information security program. Ask what the provider contributes to it and what evidence it can give an examiner.
Healthcare
A provider with access to patient data is a business associate under HIPAA. Ask for a signed business associate agreement before it touches your systems.
