Morris Technology Solutions 1 of 5 checks
Managed IT for San Antonio law firms, CPA offices and dental practices, alongside healthcare IT consulting.
Morris Technology Solutions Overview
Morris Technology Solutions, which calls itself MTS, is an IT services and consulting company based in San Antonio. Its site names Tim Morris as president and lists a COO, a CFO and two vice presidents beside him. The pages we read give no founding year.
The site describes two kinds of customer. Its consulting pages point to large hospital systems. Its managed services page says it works with companies "ranging from CPAs to law firms and dental offices".
What Morris Technology Solutions sells
The managed services page says MTS can manage cloud, network, PC workstations, Microsoft 365, security, storage, backups, mobile devices, printers and a service desk. It describes a 24/7 live help desk with staff based in San Antonio, assigned engineers, an assigned account manager and business review meetings.
The rest of the site reads more like a consulting and staffing firm, which is unusual in this directory. The home page says its talent pool runs from interim CIOs and IT directors to cloud architects, engineers and technicians. It lists project management, virtual desktop infrastructure and EHR infrastructure readiness among its specialties.
Healthcare software is a stated focus. The site says it supplies Cerner and Epic application specialists, and its team page names a vice president of clinical application services. The help desk page says MTS can add agents to a customer's own desk or provide the entire service.
The work it points to
The home page carries testimonials under the names Arete Healthcare, Ammex, UMass Memorial Medical Center and Beacon Health Options. The Ammex quote says MTS staffed 3 people within 24 hours to enter orders. The UMass quote credits the team with modernizing infrastructure ahead of an Epic rollout.
The managed services page quotes one CPA client. We have not spoken to any of those clients.
How it says it charges
MTS says its managed services use a flat rate and are priced by the size of the customer's environment. It advertises "Month-to-Month Contracts and No Auto Renewals!" on the same page. It publishes no prices.
What its site does not tell you
On the 5 pages we read, the site gives no prices and no response times. It promises rapid onsite response and mentions service level agreements for the help desk, without figures. It does not say how many people work there, though the team page profiles more than a dozen.
The only credentials we found belong to individuals: a CCIE, a PMP and a CPA on the team page. No company certifications or vendor partnerships are named. None of that is unusual for a small provider's website, and all of it is worth asking about before you sign.

Morris Technology Solutions Services
What those services mean, and what to ask
Ongoing responsibility for your systems for a recurring fee: monitoring, patching, support and planning. Ask exactly which devices, users and sites the fee covers, and what is billed on top.
What an MSP isLicensing, administration, security settings and migration for cloud platforms. The platform keeps the service running; backing up your data in it and securing the accounts is still somebody's job, so ask whose.
Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365Protection, detection and response: endpoint software, email filtering, firewalls and someone watching the alerts. Many providers resell a specialist for monitoring, so ask who actually does the work and who calls you at night.
Cybersecurity basicsCopies of your data kept where the original's problems cannot reach, and a plan for bringing systems back. Ask how often a restore is tested and how long a full recovery takes.
Backup and disaster recoveryThe number your staff call. Ask for the hours, the response time by priority, whether the people answering are the provider's own staff, and what an on-site visit costs.

Rules that come with those sectors
Naming a sector is not evidence that a provider meets its rules. These are the ones that commonly apply in the United States, and what to ask about each.
- Legal
- Lawyers have a professional duty to make reasonable efforts to protect client information, under ABA Model Rule 1.6 and its state versions. Ask how client files and email are secured.
- Accounting
- Tax and accounting firms fall under the FTC Safeguards Rule, and the IRS expects a written information security plan. Ask how the provider supports yours.
- Dental
- A provider with access to patient data is a business associate under HIPAA. Ask for a signed business associate agreement before it touches your systems.
