ITsGuru 2 of 5 checks
Managed IT, cloud and network security for Houston small and midsize businesses.
ITsGuru Overview
ITsGuru is a Houston technology company that says it started in 2006. Its site names Himanshu Patel as chief executive and gives one office, on Broadfield Blvd in west Houston. It describes its clients as small and midsize businesses, and its home page singles out three kinds: car dealerships, financial services firms and CPA practices.
What ITsGuru sells
The site lists four IT services: managed IT, cloud computing, network security, and email and spam protection. The managed service is described as round-the-clock monitoring of computers and the network, with technicians it says are available "regardless of time or holiday".
The cloud pages describe built-in data backup and secure storage. The email pages describe filtering of viruses and malware before they reach the inbox, and encryption of mail.
It is also a software business, which few companies in this directory are. A separate part of the site offers custom application development, systems integration and application maintenance, and says the company works with automotive retailers to automate front office and back office processes. The same pages offer website management, SEO and paid advertising.
The work it points to
Its case study page lists projects by title rather than by result. Among them are an AWS cloud migration, a Cisco Meraki network for an automotive call center, data security and backup for a CPA firm, and work for Kia, Nissan and Isuzu dealers and a dialysis center.
The titles fit the sectors it names. We have not spoken to any of those clients.
How it says it charges
ITsGuru says its managed service is billed as a flat-rate fee in custom packages, and that the fee does not rise when a server fails or the network is down. It publishes no prices, package contents or contract terms.
Its development inquiry form asks for a monthly budget in bands that start below $2,500 and run past $150,000. That shows the range of projects it expects to hear about, not what anything costs.
What its site does not tell you
On the 14 pages we read, the site states no response times, names no certifications, and does not say how many people work there. Its "100% satisfaction guaranteed" line comes without terms. It says its developers have put in more than a million hours, a figure we have no way to check.
None of that is unusual for a small provider's website, and all of it is worth asking about before you sign.

ITsGuru Services
What those services mean, and what to ask
Ongoing responsibility for your systems for a recurring fee: monitoring, patching, support and planning. Ask exactly which devices, users and sites the fee covers, and what is billed on top.
What an MSP isLicensing, administration, security settings and migration for cloud platforms. The platform keeps the service running; backing up your data in it and securing the accounts is still somebody's job, so ask whose.
Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365Protection, detection and response: endpoint software, email filtering, firewalls and someone watching the alerts. Many providers resell a specialist for monitoring, so ask who actually does the work and who calls you at night.

Rules that come with those sectors
Naming a sector is not evidence that a provider meets its rules. These are the ones that commonly apply in the United States, and what to ask about each.
- Car dealerships
- Dealers that arrange financing are covered by the FTC Safeguards Rule, which requires a written information security program. Ask how the provider supports it.
- Financial services
- Firms covered by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act must keep a written information security program. Ask what the provider contributes to it and what evidence it can give an examiner.
- CPA firms
- Tax and accounting firms fall under the FTC Safeguards Rule, and the IRS expects a written information security plan. Ask how the provider supports yours.

Questions to Ask ITsGuru
Chosen from what this record shows and what it does not. The general list for any provider is in the IT buyer's guide.
- What exactly is included in the monthly fee, and what is billed separately: onboarding, projects, on-site visits?
- We have no published pricing on record for ITsGuru. Ask for the price per user or per device, the minimum, and the contract length, in writing.
- What are the response and resolution times by priority, and what happens when they are missed?
- Which certifications and partner tiers does the company hold? We have confirmed none with an issuer yet, so check each one in the issuer's own directory.
- Can you speak to two clients of your size who have been with the company for more than a year? We have not reached any of its clients.
- It names Car dealerships, Financial services and CPA firms. If your sector is not among them, ask for a client in it.
- Backup is not among the services it puts first. Ask how your data is backed up, where, and when a restore was last tested.
- Who holds the administrator credentials and the documentation, and how are they handed over if you leave?

No. A listing is free and starts with the registration check. A company pays a flat referral fee only when a quote request is sent to it, the same fee for every company, so it cannot buy a position.
