Covenant Computing 2 of 5 checks
Managed IT, networks and new-construction IT for senior living, offices and hotels.
Covenant Computing Overview
Covenant Computing is an Arlington managed IT provider. Its site names Edward Little as Chief Executive Officer and gives no founding year, citing instead "a combined 3 decades of experience". It says it specializes in senior living communities, commercial office building management companies and hotels in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston and Austin areas.
What Covenant Computing sells
The managed service includes 24-hour network and computer monitoring, a help desk, virus and malware removal, backup to an off-site server, vendor management and support for remote workers. Security products on the site include enterprise password management with dark web scanning, email phishing protection that uses IRONSCALES, endpoint protection, and application and data control.
Unusually for an MSP, it also builds the physical side of a property. The about page describes new construction and remodeling projects in which it handles internet provider connections, door access, security systems, phone service, Wi-Fi and low voltage cabling. It says its cabling is BICSI compliant and carries a 10-year limited warranty.
A web services page adds website hosting, website design and digital marketing. The company says customers of its marketing plans have seen an average 3x increase in leads, a figure we cannot check.
The work it points to
The testimonials page quotes named people with employers. Among them are a vice president of IT at Frontier Management and executive directors at The Auberge at Kingwood and The Reserve at Katy. Two others work at assisted living and memory care communities, which fits its stated specialty. We have not spoken to any of those clients.
How it says it charges
Covenant describes flat-rate pricing in three plans, Basic, Professional and Premium, priced per workstation. It does not publish the plan fees. It does publish hourly rates in three sets. The first lists onsite support at $185 per hour, remote support at $85, and after hours and weekend work at $277.50 per hour.
The second set lists onsite at $165 per hour, remote support free, and after hours at $247.50 per hour. The third shows onsite and after hours support as free. Its Office 365 page lists monthly retail prices from $8.50 for Business Essentials to $26.40 for Business Premium, and a Windows 11 Home to Pro upgrade at $50.00.
What its site does not tell you
On the 12 pages we read, the site does state response times. It says emergency response is "one hour or less guaranteed" and that calls are answered live or returned within 5 min. Its 100% satisfaction guarantee comes without terms.
The site names no certifications and does not say how many people work there or how long a contract runs. These are things to ask about before you sign.

Covenant Computing Services
What those services mean, and what to ask
Ongoing responsibility for your systems for a recurring fee: monitoring, patching, support and planning. Ask exactly which devices, users and sites the fee covers, and what is billed on top.
What an MSP isProtection, detection and response: endpoint software, email filtering, firewalls and someone watching the alerts. Many providers resell a specialist for monitoring, so ask who actually does the work and who calls you at night.
Cybersecurity basicsCopies of your data kept where the original's problems cannot reach, and a plan for bringing systems back. Ask how often a restore is tested and how long a full recovery takes.
Backup and disaster recoveryThe physical side: structured cabling, racks, cameras and door access. Ask which cable category is being installed, whether each run is tested and labeled, and who can view the camera footage.
Cat6 vs Cat6aThe provider deals with your software, telecom and hardware suppliers and buys equipment for you. Ask whether it takes a margin on what it sells.

Rules that come with those sectors
Naming a sector is not evidence that a provider meets its rules. These are the ones that commonly apply in the United States, and what to ask about each.
- Senior living
- A provider with access to patient data is a business associate under HIPAA. Ask for a signed business associate agreement before it touches your systems.
- Hospitality
- Anyone taking card payments has to meet PCI DSS. Ask which parts of the card environment the provider would manage.
