CoreRecon 2 of 5 checks
Managed IT and round-the-clock managed cybersecurity, with compliance work for regulated firms.
CoreRecon Overview
CoreRecon describes itself as a Corpus Christi based, veteran-owned cybersecurity and managed IT company, and states that it is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). Its site lists a second office in McKinney. It gives no founding year and names no owner or executives, saying only that its team has over 30 years of cybersecurity and IT experience.
The company says it focuses on small to mid-market businesses across Texas. It has a page for oil and gas companies and city pages for Plano, Dallas, Austin, Houston and El Paso.
What CoreRecon sells
CoreRecon sells a package it calls SecurityCore+, which it describes as 24/7 security threat monitoring. Around it the site lists penetration testing, internal and external security assessments, dark web scanning, cyber policy audits, incident response, and network architecture reviews.
Compliance work is a large part of the offer: CMMC compliance, SPRS score assessment, PCI/DSS, HIPAA audits, and NIST, DISA and SOC assessments. The oil and gas page adds monitoring of operational technology networks and the separation of those networks from office IT.
The managed IT service covers remote and on-site support for desktops, servers and networks, Microsoft 365 administration, VoIP phone support and backup monitoring. The site says it can run all of a client's IT or work alongside an internal IT team.
The work it points to
The home page carries one named reference. Andy Horn, Director of Information Technology at the City of Carrollton, is quoted praising CoreRecon's incident response after a cyber-attack on the city.
The city pages carry further quotes attributed only to job titles, not names, such as a managing partner at a Dallas law firm. One credits CoreRecon with preventing attempted wire fraud totaling over $1.2 million. We have not spoken to any of those clients.
How it says it charges
CoreRecon says managed IT is billed as "a fixed monthly fee based on the number of IT users", with no overage fees, on-site visit charges or usage rates. It says the only extra costs are projects for upgrades and enhancements. It publishes no prices.
What its site does not tell you
On the 12 pages we read, the site does state response times: a target of 15 minutes for critical issues during business hours, and acknowledgment of standard requests within one hour. It says resolution follows the service level agreement in each contract, which it does not publish.
The site names no certifications held by the company or its staff, and does not say how many people work there or when it was founded. A heading for vendor partners appears without any names in the text. These are things to ask about before you sign.

CoreRecon Services
What those services mean, and what to ask
Ongoing responsibility for your systems for a recurring fee: monitoring, patching, support and planning. Ask exactly which devices, users and sites the fee covers, and what is billed on top.
What an MSP isProtection, detection and response: endpoint software, email filtering, firewalls and someone watching the alerts. Many providers resell a specialist for monitoring, so ask who actually does the work and who calls you at night.
Cybersecurity basicsHelp meeting a security standard or a regulator's rules. Ask which frameworks the provider has taken clients through, and what evidence it produces for an auditor.

Rules that come with those sectors
Naming a sector is not evidence that a provider meets its rules. These are the ones that commonly apply in the United States, and what to ask about each.
- Legal
- Lawyers have a professional duty to make reasonable efforts to protect client information, under ABA Model Rule 1.6 and its state versions. Ask how client files and email are secured.
- Healthcare
- A provider with access to patient data is a business associate under HIPAA. Ask for a signed business associate agreement before it touches your systems.
- Insurance
- Firms covered by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act must keep a written information security program. Ask what the provider contributes to it and what evidence it can give an examiner.
- Manufacturing
- Manufacturers in the defense supply chain are assessed under CMMC. If that is you, ask whether the provider has taken a client through it.
- Defense contractors
- Contractors handling controlled information for the Department of Defense are assessed under CMMC, built on NIST SP 800-171. Ask whether the provider has taken a client through an assessment.

Questions to Ask CoreRecon
Chosen from what this record shows and what it does not. The general list for any provider is in the IT buyer's guide.
- What exactly is included in the monthly fee, and what is billed separately: onboarding, projects, on-site visits?
- We have no published pricing on record for CoreRecon. Ask for the price per user or per device, the minimum, and the contract length, in writing.
- What are the response and resolution times by priority, and what happens when they are missed?
- Which certifications and partner tiers does the company hold? We have confirmed none with an issuer yet, so check each one in the issuer's own directory.
- Can you speak to two clients of your size who have been with the company for more than a year? We have not reached any of its clients.
- It names Nonprofit, Legal, Healthcare, Oil and gas, Insurance, Real estate, Engineering, Manufacturing, Financial services and Defense contractors. If your sector is not among them, ask for a client in it.
- Backup is not among the services it puts first. Ask how your data is backed up, where, and when a restore was last tested.
- Who holds the administrator credentials and the documentation, and how are they handed over if you leave?

The overview. Written by us from 12 pages of the company's own website, each read in full on Sep 17, 2026. It reports what the site says and what it leaves out. It is not a review, and nothing in it has been verified beyond the five checks.
Note on the record. Clutch, DesignRush and the charter agree on 2015; the company site gives only the team's combined experience. The business leans toward security, and managed IT is a stated line of its own. The site also lists a McKinney office.
