TRiNet International 2 of 5 checks
Managed IT, security and compliance, backup and VoIP from a McAllen firm trading since 1993.
TRiNet International Overview
TRiNet International describes itself as a managed IT services firm with corporate offices in McAllen. Its history page says TRiNet Computer Services was established in 1993 as a sole proprietorship and incorporated as TRiNet International, Inc. in 1997. The founder is described as an electronic systems engineer but is not named.
The same page says the company first served multinational manufacturing plants across the border in Mexico and in South Texas, then turned its focus to customers in the Rio Grande Valley. It says it began moving from break-fix work to managed IT and cloud services in 2012.
What TRiNet International sells
The site lists managed desktop and server support, backup and disaster recovery, virtualization, security and compliance, cloud solutions, and network design and integration. The backup pages describe a Datto appliance with cloud replication, backups as often as every 15 minutes, ransomware detection and a daily screenshot that verifies each backup.
Phones are a large part of the business. It says it partnered with Avaya in 2007, and it sells on-premise, hosted and hybrid phone systems plus SIP trunking. Its advice is specific: it recommends on-premise systems for businesses with 15 or more users and cloud PBX for those with 15 or fewer.
The home page lists technology partners including Avaya, VMware, Cisco, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Dell, Extreme Networks, Xima and Grandstream. The history page adds a KnowBe4 partnership in 2023 for security awareness training. The cloud page lists hosted Exchange and Office 365.
The work it points to
The home page carries two signed testimonials, one from SDI Fuel Services in Houston and one from RaceTrac Petroleum in Irving. Another page shows short unsigned reviews, one mentioning an Avaya phone system. The managed IT page refers to "hundreds of happy customers" without a figure. We have not spoken to any of those clients.
How it says it charges
TRiNet describes its managed service as subscription based with one monthly fee, and states "No contracts, cancel any time, no questions asked." The home page also says it can bill hourly for services rendered. It offers a free voice and data infrastructure assessment. It publishes no prices.
What its site does not tell you
On the 11 pages we read, the site gives no prices, no response times and no headcount. It lists vendor partnerships but no staff certifications. Its services overview page still holds placeholder template text, and the counters on the home page came through without numbers.
None of that is unusual for a small provider's website, and all of it is worth asking about before you sign.

TRiNet International Services
What those services mean, and what to ask
Ongoing responsibility for your systems for a recurring fee: monitoring, patching, support and planning. Ask exactly which devices, users and sites the fee covers, and what is billed on top.
What an MSP isProtection, detection and response: endpoint software, email filtering, firewalls and someone watching the alerts. Many providers resell a specialist for monitoring, so ask who actually does the work and who calls you at night.
Cybersecurity basicsCopies of your data kept where the original's problems cannot reach, and a plan for bringing systems back. Ask how often a restore is tested and how long a full recovery takes.
Backup and disaster recoveryLicensing, administration, security settings and migration for cloud platforms. The platform keeps the service running; backing up your data in it and securing the accounts is still somebody's job, so ask whose.
Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365Hosted or on-premises telephony carried over your data network. Voice is the first thing to suffer on a congested link, so ask how calls are prioritized.

How do I get a quote from TRiNet International?
